Catholic Youth Movement

The Archdiocese of Kingston will be blessed in July 2009 with the arrival of about 1000 Catholic youth pilgrims from other Caribbean countries coming here to participate in the Antilles Youth Assembly 2009, under the theme: “If you only knew what God was offering you” (Jn. 4:10): Evangelizing youth for a fuller life in Christ.

The Assembly will run from July 9 through 20, 2009. Activities shall coordinated in two phases.

Phase 1: July 9-13 Days in the Parishes
Activities will be centered in the parishes in the Archdiocese as well as parts of the Diocese of Mandeville.

Phase 2: July 13 – 20 Catechetical Days
All activities will be in Metropolitan Kingston and all the participants shall be housed in Kingston, Portmore and those communities able to facilitate daily transportation into/out of Kingston.

AEC Youth Assembly 2009 aims to bring together approximately 2000 young Roman Catholics for a 2 week period  in which they will have direct, close and personal contact with the leadership of the church and share their faith with their peers

What we want to achieve by AEC Youth Assembly 2009?

Re-affirm the Catholic identity of our youth.

Give a Catholic vision for their lives

Enable them to appreciate varying styles of celebrating Mass.

teach them to share a Christian experience with peers

Help them discern Vocations to the priesthood & religious life.

Teach them to see themselves as a part of a vibrant youth Roman Catholic congregation across the Caribbean region.

Help them regain the vigour and dynamism of the Roman Catholic Faith.
