BACHELOR OF ARTS (PHILOSOPHY)

(MAJOR IN PHILOSOPHY, MINOR IN THEOLOGY)

To satisfy this major, a minimum of 36 credits in Philosophy must be obtained as follows:

Level I (3 credits each)

PH10C Introduction to Philosophy
T14E History of Western Philosophy II
PH10A Introduction to Logic

One course in Philosophy from:

T14D History of Western Philosophy I
PH10B Ethics and Applied Ethics
GT11B Introduction to Political Philosophy

Level II (12 credits at least from the following):

PH20B Theory of Knowledge
PH20C Philosophy of Mind
PH20F Metaphysics

Any other level II course in Philosophy, including:

T24A Philosophy of Religion
T24D Hermeneutic Philosophy
PH25A Introduction to African Philosophy I
PH25B Introduction to African Philosophy II
PH27A Philosophy in Literature
ED20L Philosophy of Human Nature
ED20Q Understanding the Curriculum
GT21B Theories of State
GT27B Issues in Marxism

Level III (12 credits at least from the following): (3 credits each)

PH24A Recent Western Philosophy I
PH24B Recent Western Philosophy II
PH36A Philosophy of Science I
PH36B Philosophy of Science II
T34E Aspects of the Philosophy of Aquinas

Any other Level III course in Philosophy (e.g. ED30K Moral and Political Issues in Education Policy) or Level II Philosophy course not previously taken.

The remaining THIRTY SIX credits shall be chosen from Theology courses offered for the BA Theology Programme.  Candidates for the BA (Philosophy/Theology) may with the approval of St Michael's Theological College and the Faculty of Humanities and Education or the Faculty of Social Science choose not more than twelve credits in the 90 credit programme from among the courses provided by the Faculty of Humanities and Education or The Faculty of Social Science.
