Certificate in Theology

Entrance Requirements

4 CXCs including English Language, English Literature/History and two others.  Candidates who do not meet this requirement can take one course for which they must obtain a B average in order to gain full admittance to the programme.

Programme I

Requirements

  • The two year Laity Training Programme (including assessment of performance.  Passing grade required)

  • At least one course each semester

  • Earn 30 credits (10 courses)

Courses - Core courses which must be taken:

  • T10A  Introduction to Old Testament Literature

  • T10B  Introduction to New Testament Literature

  • T11C  History of the Church from Pentecost to Charlemagne

  • T13A   Introduction to Systematic Theology

  • T21A  History of Christian Worship

  • T23S  Christian Ethical Principles

The remaining 4 courses are to be chosen from the courses in Theology offered at St Michaelís Theological College.  Courses may include Research Papers done under Supervision.

Programme II

Requirements

  • Three semesters full time OR

  • At least one course each semester part time

  • Earn 36 credits (12 courses)

Courses - Core courses which must be taken:

  • T10A  Introduction to Old Testament Literature

  • T10B  Introduction to New Testament Literature

  • T11C  History of the Church from Pentecost to Charlemagne

  • T13A  Introduction to Systematic Theology

  • T21A  History of Christian Worship

  • T23S  Christian Ethical Principles

Two second level courses must be taken from the following areas:

  • Ethics

  • Bible Studies

  • Systematic Theology

  • Spirituality

The remaining 4 courses are to be chosen from the courses in Theology offered at St Michaelís Theological College.  Courses may include Research Papers done under supervision.
